FAQs

What is the Alaska State Medical Association?

A nonprofit membership organization that advocates on behalf of Alaska physicians and for the health and well-being of all Alaskans.

Is ASMA a government agency?

No. People frequently confuse ASMA with the Alaska State Medical Board, which is a state agency but has no affiliation with the Alaska State Medical Association.

Are all Alaska physicians members of ASMA?

No, but all MDs and DOs licensed to practice in Alaska are eligible for membership.

Can you refer me to a physician?

We're sorry, but we are not permitted to do referrals. However, ASMA members and subscribers can obtain a list of physicians by specialty or locale by clicking the "Medical Directory" link.

How can I advertise in ASMA's print and online publications?

For information on advertising in ASMA's print publications, click here. Currently, we do not offer online advertising, though we plan to do so in the near future.

I want to file a grievance against a doctor. Can I do that through ASMA?

Yes. Please call the ASMA office at (907) 562-0304 and ask for Cassie.

I have many questions about ASMA and/or this website, but they're not answered here. What can I do?

Click here for a form that will allow you to submit your question (in the "Comments" box at the bottom of the form). A member of the ASMA staff will get back to you.
